US Q2 2026 GDP Preview: Key Signals for the Dollar and Stocks | ZEAL COMPANY (ZFX)

The Bureau of Economic Analysis will publish the advance estimate of second-quarter 2026 GDP on July 30, together with June personal income and outlays. First-quarter real GDP was estimated to have grown at a 1.6% annualised rate, while private domestic final demand rose 2.4%.

Consumption quality matters

Because household spending is central to the US economy, investors should look beyond headline GDP to consumption and private domestic demand. Inventories and trade can create large one-quarter swings.

PCE inflation and rates

First-quarter PCE inflation was 4.5%, with core PCE at 4.4%. Resilient growth and high inflation may support higher-for-longer rate expectations; softer growth and inflation could have the opposite effect.

Three market scenarios

Strong growth with high inflation may support the dollar but challenge equity valuations. Moderate growth with cooling inflation can favour risk assets, while a sharp miss may revive recession concerns.
